Local elections was held in Santa Rosa City on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors.

Incumbent Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas decided not to run for reelection because is she term-limited, she will run for Congresswoman instead. Incumbent Congressman Danilo Fernandez is running for Mayor under Liberal Party, his opponent is incumbent vice-mayor Arnel Gomez a nominee under Nationalist People's Coalition. Mayor Arcillas' running mate, Arnel Gomez is also term-limited, Her brother, Arnel is running for Vice-Mayor under Liberal Party and his opponent is incumbent Councilor Ma. Theresa Aala under Nationalist People's Coalition.
